Level 2 IT Support Engineer

Greenlight Computers are looking for a 2nd Line IT Support Engineer to join our team at Sci-Tech Daresbury.

We are a leading MSP in the field of supporting science based businesses, we have a presence in some of the leading scientific hubs in the country. This is a great opportunity for a 2nd Line IT Support Engineer to join the team.

In this role you will not only help your L1 colleagues to deliver great support, but you will also have a major part to play in exciting and interesting challenges:

The successful candidate will have shown dedication to their professional development by achieving industry recognised qualifications such as CompTIA accreditations or Microsoft MCP / MCSE and have direct experience of working with common MSP tools and technologies, such as Autotask, Datto, ConnectWise, VMware, Azure and Microsoft 365.

Suitable candidates will already have MSP experience, please do not apply for this role if you do not have any MSP experience.

The scope of the role includes:

  • Escalation point for colleagues, generally L1 helpdesk colleagues.
  • Troubleshoot and fix incidents as required, ensuring they are resolved within customer service level agreements or against key performance indicators.
  • Where required support helpdesk processes, including taking calls.
  • Providing technical diagnostics and guidance.
  • Assist with designing and proposing solutions to clients.
  • Deliver on project deployments.
  • Travel to clients to resolve calls raised, review development requests or implement projects.

The successful candidate will be working with and therefore requires management and implementation experience of:

  • IT security solutions, including the Microsoft security stack.
  • Proven experience in Azure and VMware with the ability to create, setup, maintain and troubleshoot servers.
  • Active Directory, PowerShell Windows Server & Hyper-V
  • Azure AD
  • Microsoft / Office 365 & Exchange Server
  • Market leading Firewalls and Switches
  • Market leading Backup and recovery solutions
  • Microsoft Intune

  • Enthusiasm.
  • Clean and professional image – we must not only perform professionally but also be professional in attitude, appearance and the way we act, in order to stand above the competition. Smart dress standard is essential, clean personal hygiene and appearance.
  • The ability to communicate clearly. Comfortable speaking to clients. Great written skills, able to produce written submissions which could go straight to the client.
  • Demonstrates experience in creation and maintenance of documentation.
  • Owns a problem, recognises that customer satisfaction is key to getting paid.

Working Hours:

  • Full Time 40 hours per week.
  • Shift rota basis, covering 8am until 6pm.
  • Flexible work pattern available after completion of probationary period.

Candidates should have access to their own car and license for customer site visits.

You will be based at our office at Sci-Tech Daresbury.

From there you will support clients on that site or travel to client sites or other Greenlight sites as required.
