As the school environment changes and reliance on ICT becomes increasingly critical to the way our children interact and learn our schools need to adapt. School modernisation programs such as BSF (Building Schools for the Future) are giving us great new facilities with computers in every room, hand-held devices for kids and multimedia technologies of many different varieties. Greenlight specialises in supporting existing staff to make best use of the technology and ensuring the ICT tools in our schools are working effectively when required.

Supply technicians

Greenlight Computers operating model of supporting local communities with local technicians means we are ideally placed to serve schools and colleges with ICT support cover. We can supply technician support in almost any circumstance from long term replacements to panic same day cover. Some of these scenarios are exemplified below however as each situation is different we recommend you call us in for a free consultation to determine what is best for your situation:

  • LONG TERM SUPPLY - is providing technician cover similar to that provided as supply teaching cover either by term or year. We can often provide the option of half days/full days/class assist, our staff are flexible and good communicators who will look to add value and be pro-active where possible.
  • SHORT TERM SUPPLY - is our most regularly demanded service allowing for staff sickness cover or special project deployments, dealing with the peaks and troughs which allows you not to take an additional member of staff.
  • STANDBY COVER - is offered for a nominal fee (from £5 per day) to guarantee a same day service as a low cost way of covering for holidays & training. If the technician is required his/her time is then charged on a "pay as you go" basis and the stand by fee refunded.
  • PANIC RESPONSE - is always available fro Greenlight, we are local and can often respond quickly.

Where we have an established team of technicians local to your school you can be confident that a supply technician resource from Greenlight would be familiar with your location, procedures, staff and ICT if regularly used. Where we don't have an established team locally it is normally possible for us to recruit quickly in the area and retain the technician for other local work once your assignment is concluded.

IT Coaches

It is often complex to take teaching staff out of school to gain the necessary IT skills to keep pace with the children they teach. Government reports are continuously identifying staff skills and fear of ICT as a blocker to the process of effective ICT use in learning. The Demos pamphlet "Their Space - Education for a digital generation" offers a great insight into the nature of the problem, summarising years of research into a very readable but concerning realisation. 

Within the same local strategy as all of our services we are building a team of people capable of offering mobile ICT coaching to teaching & administrative staff in schools & colleges. Our team offer services on demand allowing our clients to call for on the job support, advice and guidance, ICT best practice and a host of other familiarisation help.

Greenlight believes that the primary role we can provide in helping school staff adapt to 21st century learning is in matching them with a personal coaches who can help clear the fog. Where possible we match our coaches by age profile as it would appear better results come from peer to peer development.
